Ava Murbarger is a young author of fantasy and science fiction, passionate about crafting stories that find the light without ignoring the dark.

She’s been telling stories for as long as she can remember, but her writing became something more than a hobby when she realized just how meaningful stories could be.

Since then, she’s written countless pages, edited works for fellow writers, and jumped into creating stories that others might just want to read. Healer, book one in the Orythian Journeys series, was her debut novel.

GENRE

I write speculative fiction, most often fantasy and sci-fi with hints of dystopia and horror. Lots of strange worldbuilding and personal stakes.

characters

Characters are probably my favorite part of writing when it comes down to it. Mine tend to be outsiders and a little morally messy. Design-wise they can be anything from human to bizarre fantasy species.

worldbuilding

Though some of my stories take place on earth or an altered earth, most of the time I make up fictional worlds to put my stories in. Those range from medieval fantasy settings, to advanced sci-fi spheres or post-apocalyptic wastelands.

Writing style

Often a little chaotic, fast and close. Plenty of dialogue and scenes that are tense and tender at the same time. I write in both first person and close third.

Where to start

If you're just starting to read my books, Tethered Worlds makes for a good start. Several stories in different perspectives, as well as the prequel to my Orythian Journeys series in the back (Fang and Storm).

That being said, it is just as easy to start with Healer, AKA Orythian Journeys book one.

What I'm working on now

My main project currently is book four of Orythian Journeys, along with some standalone novels and hobby projects on the side.
